Navarra

The DO region of Navarra, Rioja’s northern neighbour, was long overshadowed by its southern ‘cousin’. With the cultivation of grafted vines resistant to the vine pest, traditional and committed vintners managed to entirely rebuild viticulture in their region. As a result, today Navarra is home to a mixture of wines from classical to modern that can easily compete with the best wines in the world. The boundary between the humid and cool Atlantic climate and the hot, dry Mediterranean climate passes right through Navarra. Accordingly, the weather conditions in the subzones are diverse. The soils, like the climate, vary from area to area.
