Less well known is the fact that Leonardo came from a family of winegrowers based in the Tuscan village of Vinci and that wine was his great passion. Villa Da Vinci still exists to this day, set amid beautiful vineyards – the estate where Leonardo grew up in the 16th century and where his family cultivated vines as long as 500 years ago. His life here was a formative influence: Leonardo dedicated his brilliant mind to researching viticulture and developing new methods so as to constantly improve the quality of the wines.
