Character

Ein frischer, fruchtiger und nachhaltiger Schaumwein, gelb mit ganz feinen Grünreflexen und recht intensiver Perlage. In die Nase steigen recht intensive und komplexe Aromen von Grapefruit und Zitrone, aber auch etwas exotischen Früchten und Steinobst. Eine leichte Tee- und ganz fein blumige und würzige Noten runden das Aromabild ab. Im Gaumen moussiert der Cava recht kräftig, aber angenehm, und er schmeckt frisch und aromatisch. Die Struktur ist mittelfüllig und harmonisch, das schöne Fruchtbukett und die leichte Mineralität zeigen sich auch in der Rückaromatik nochmals.

Catalonia is a reputed region in the North-East of Spain. The Catalans are the driving force and the greatest innovators in the Spanish winegrowing world. They were the first to produce sparkling wine in accordance with the méthode champenoise in Penedès – Cava continues to play an important role here. This large wine region contains all microclimates one could possibly imagine for viticulture. In the vicinity of the coast, the sea ensures a fresh and humid climate, whereas further inland it tends to be dry and hot. Mountain ranges with their hilly ridges and steep slopes give rise to extraordinary terroirs, in particular calcareous and limestone soils. Supported by the innovative spirit of the native winegrowers, these natural conditions yield plenty of outstanding wines.

Since 1969, the quality of Segura Viudas Cava sparkling wines has been inspiring, and today it belongs to one of the most important producers of top Cavas in Catalonia. In the eyes of many connoisseurs, the top Cavas taste fresher and fruitier than Champagne. To produce them, only cider from the Xarello, Parellada and Macabeo grapes harvested exclusively by hand from the first pressing is used. The sparkling wines are produced in bottle fermentation and mature for up to 60 months on in-house cultivated yeast cultures. Finally, the icing on the cake is the unique, hand-made bottle for the top product Reserva Heredad.
