Region

Galicia

Galicia, with its capital of Santiago de Compostela, is located north of Portugal in the North-West of Spain. The climate is shaped by the Atlantic, which encapsulates the region from two sides. Mild winters, rainy summers and abundant rivers render Galicia one of the lushest and greenest landscapes in Spain and rich in innumerable woods and forests. Blessed with many hours of sunlight and soils of granite and slate, the region has ideal conditions for viticulture, producing elegant, well-structured wines with a fresh, mineral character.

Producer/Brand

Gargalo

The vineyards of Gargalo are located in the most continental area of Galicia and are part of the Duero basin. This region not only stands out for its scenic beauty, but also offers perfect conditions for winegrowing with its varied terroir and climate influenced by the Atlantic. The appellation D.O. Monterrei was only founded in 1993, although the history of wine production here goes back more than 2,000 years. Bodega Gargalo is located at the foot of the Castillo de Monterrei and has been producing quality wines that reflect the character of Galicia since 1982: Respect for tradition and the environment, a spirit of innovation and the pursuit of excellence.
